Anyone who has ever owned an animal knows that your pet becomes a huge part of your life. Your furry friend becomes a part of your family and life without them becomes unimaginable. Before you plan your big day with your four-legged companion, check out our dos and don’ts of including your pet in your proposal.

1. Obedience is Key- When using your animal in your proposal you want to make sure that they are well behaved and will go along with your plan. If your pet, whether it is a dog or a cat, is the type to run away, eat items it is not supposed (like your engagement ring) or even worse bit, do not use them! This will totally kill the mood for your proposal.

2. Does she like your dog? – You might be madly in love with your furry friend, but that does not always mean that she is. If your future fiancé does not care for your pet, do not include them in your proposal. The last thing she wants to remember is her engagement ring being delivered by that dog that always used to eat her socks.

3. Make sure the ring is noticeable- If you are tying the ring to your pets collar make sure that it is notice. Add a shiny bow to their collar to draw her attention to what is around their neck. Also make sure that they are well groomed the day! Presentation is key for pulling off the perfect four-legged companion proposal!
